GEA introduces the Omni NG control panel

A new control generation for heating and refrigeration: how to document hardware, software and scope for a sourcing enquiry.

The development

GEA presents Omni NG as its next control-panel generation for industrial heating and refrigeration. According to the manufacturer, a G-Plex module and separate touchscreen replace the previous IPC, while the operating system changes from Windows to Linux.

What it means for sourcing

First establish whether the enquiry concerns replacement of an existing component or a planned upgrade. Record the plant and compressor type, serial numbers, installed module designations and hardware and software versions. A photograph of the operator screen alone does not describe the entire control system. The exact reference and revision in the documentation help define the requested scope of supply.

For a retrofit, we recommend documenting inputs, outputs, communication links and who will commission the installation. Clarify configuration backups, licences, network connections and approval of the specific modification before ordering. Tell DEAVA whether you are requesting a display, an electronic module or an agreed retrofit kit. A similarly named control panel still requires an application-specific technical assessment.

What to include in your enquiry

  • Plant type and serial number
  • Module designation, reference and revision
  • Software version, interfaces and available documentation
  • Required scope, quantity and destination
