Beckhoff ECP and ENP: specifying a replacement connector
Hybrid cabling combines several functions. A replacement enquiry still needs the connector size, coding and complete reference.
The development
Beckhoff describes ECP and ENP hybrid connectors for One Cable Automation, combining power, signals and data. Its release names the B12, B17, B23 and B40 sizes and DIN EN IEC 61076-2-118.
What it means for sourcing
A shared standard does not remove the need to identify the exact configuration. Start by distinguishing a loose connector, an assembled cable and a protective cap. These are different orderable items.
Record the markings on both sides of the connection. For a cable assembly, include length, exit direction and whether it runs on a moving axis. Visual similarity alone is insufficient to approve a replacement.
What to include in your enquiry
- Complete order reference and connector size
- Male/female version, coding and documented pin assignment
- For cables: length, jacket specification and movement profile
- Quantity, machine reference and required delivery date
